Director Michael Winterbottom's films are some of the most striking and varied pieces of any British director in the 20th century. Winterbottom has regularly cited major European figures as influences - including Jean-Luc Godard, Wim Wenders, and François Truffaut. He is the director of SHOCK DOCTRINE, an adaptation of Naomi Klein’s controversial book. Another one of his popular titles THE ROAD TO GUANTANAMO, which he co-directed with Matt Whitecross, won him and Matt Best Director at the Berlin Film Festival in 2006. Most recently, he completed the coming-of-age drama SPIKE ISLAND. In addition to his work in film, Michael has made music videos for various artists, including Coldplay, The Rolling Stones, Jay-Z.
