synopsis
This beautifully shot, Academy Award winning film features adventurer, poet and world champion skier Yuichiro Miura in his attempt to ski down Mount Everest from its summit. A tragic icefall claims 6 lives, but the journey continues. The team climbs to the South Col, 350 meters from the top, where Miura, with only skis and a parachute, puts his life in the hands of the Gods. His heart-stopping descent made history. This documentary contains rare on-the-spot interview with mountaineer and explorer, Sir Edmund Hillary. THE MAN WHO SKIED DOWN EVEREST won the Academy Award for Best Documentary.
