Although the film's primary subject, Georges Lopez, sued the filmmakers after realizing that the previously considered small documentary became a commercial success, the movingly magical dynamic between Lopez and his extraordinary range of students still resonates unsullied by any post-production drama. Director Nicolas Philibert captures the awe of childhood with a sympathetic lens in one of the most beautifully shot documentaries in recent years.
